Fourth Grade Social Studies begins the year with an overview of the geography of the United States of America. Students learn about the climates, population and resources in the United States while practicing geographical skills and learning to work independently and as a team. As the year progresses, students learn about each region of the United States and focus on the climate, landforms, resources and history of each region.
5th Grade
Fifth Grade Social Studies focuses on the history of North America from the early explorers until the Civil War. Students are introduced to historical ways of thinking by working with primary and secondary sources.
Geography
This history course aims at familiarizing students with the world around us on a local and global level through mastering relevant map skills. Students will analyze the historical, geographical, and cultural aspects of various regions of the world including, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and North and South America. In addition, students will examine how certain geographical factors such as climate, natural resources, and the physical environment influence settlement of a particular area.
